WHAT IS SILVERVINE?
Silvervine climbing
plant (Actinidia polygama), also known as Matatabi, is a climbing plant that grows in the mountains of China and Japan.
Positive Effects
Silvervine contains not one but two ingredients (actinidine and dihydroactinidiolide) that attract and relax the cat. The combined effect of the two components is very intense.
Alternative to catnip
Silvervine differs from catnip in the effect it has and is an excellent alternative especially for cats that do not respond to catnip.
WHAT EFFECTS DO THESE TOYS HAVE ON THE CAT?
EUPHORIA AND DESIRE TO PLAY
The effects vary according to the character of the cat. Not everyone reacts in the same way:
they may become more affectionate, more euphoric, be more encouraged to play, vocalise, purr, or start rubbing.
Older or sedentary cats also react like this and appear to have a second kitten-hood.
RELAXATION
The cat will then enter a state of total relaxation, thereby improving its well-being.
NORMAL EFFECTS
Does your cat lick, chew or drool on contact with a toy? Don’t worry, it’s normal!
